People have
questions all the time about Smartlipo – is it safe? How does it work? Who’s a
good candidate? Is it expensive? etc…
They ask because
everyone has an image of themselves they’d like to see in the mirror,
unfortunately that darn mirror doesn’t want to cooperate most of the time!! So
they seek help, and want to know if SmartLipo can help them look their best and
the short answer is YES!
Unlike
liposuction procedure, SmartLipo is far less invasive, involves faster recovery
and costs less than liposuction. Here are a few common questions to inform you
about the SmartLipo alternative.
Q: How
does SmartLipo work?
A: It’d be great
if there was a magic weight loss wand people could wave back and forth to
quickly ac
hieve the look they desire.
Until that’s invented, the closest wand we have is the very small SmartLipo
tube that is approximately 1.0 mm in diameter containing a laser fiber which is
inserted under the skin.
It is moved it
back and forth delivering the laser's energy to the fat cells, causing them to
rupture and drain away as liquid.
Simultaneously, the heat of the laser causes the tissue around the area
to coagulate, resulting in overall tighter skin.
Q: So who’s a good candidate?
A: A good
candidate is in good health, exercises regularly, is within 20 lbs. of his or
her ideal weight and has areas of fat that won’t respond to diet and exercise. A
candidates BMI ) Body Mass Index) is also looked at.
The ideal candidate has a BMI of 37 or under.
Q: Is It Safe?
A: Safety should
be the number one priority. Tumescent local anesthesia is widely regarded as
the best type in SmartLipo procedures. Ask your doctor about this anesthesia.
Because general anesthesia is unnecessary,
the procedure is very safe with only minimal side effects.
Furthermore,
because the SmartLipo “wand” is so small, there’s no big incisions or stitches,
plus, the laser causes small blood vessels to coagulate immediately on contact,
resulting in less bleeding, swelling and bruising which results in minimal
downtime.
Q. How expensive is it?
A. SmartLipo is
more affordable than traditional liposuction, because of the nature of the
minimally invasive procedure and because a hospital stay and general anesthesia
are unnecessary.
The cost of a procedure
depends on how many areas are being treated.
Most people
spend on average $5000 - $6000 to treat their trouble areas. Financing and
special pricing may be available to help with the costs of the procedure
however.
Q. What
areas of the body can be treated?
A. SmartLipo is
ideal for the upper and lower abdomen, neck, jaw line, arms, breasts, “bra
fat,” “love handles,” “saddle bags,” inner and outer thighs and knees.
