It's Fall Y'all!

Many of
us thought we would never make it through the sweltering
Designers
save their very best for the fall collections, and it’s no surprise some
fashion magazines put out whopping 1,000 page issues in September. There’s just
too much greatness to leave anything out.
While
many designers do not deliver collections tailored to such a unique climate as
Southern Louisiana, with its heat index holding fast to the 90’s well into the
fall months, while boasting treacherous humidity to boot, we can still be
inspired by their designs and create our own fall fashion looks, just slightly
cooler versions. My biggest piece of advice for putting together your fall
wardrobe is to just relax! Put your body con dresses and super low cut tops
away for very special occasions. This season is all about looking effortless.
Of course, as women know all too well, no look is truly without planning, but
the key is to make it look that way.
Some of
the hottest pieces for fall look they came out of the bottom of your hamper, or
your boyfriend’s closet. My favorites include super soft jersey t-shirts,
rolled up boyfriend jeans, super chunky heels and a surprising standout piece,
short sleeve blazers. Sequins are in this fall in a big way, literally. Forget
trimming and spot embellishment, this year is all about full on sequin pieces.
Try a dusty rose sequin sheath dress with grey, knee-high boots and a navy
scarf to tone down the sparkle. If you still can’t jump on the skinny jean
train (which, by the way, is sticking around for a while) try a pair of loose
fitting straight cut jeans over your bell or boot cuts. And of course, trousers
are always a winning look for any season. Whatever cut you may choose, remember
the key this season is casual comfort.
The
hottest colors right now (other than purple and gold, of course) are not hot at
all. They are muted, water-color tones like dusty rose, grey, army green, navy,
and khaki. A noticeably absent color from this season’s hottest looks is brown.
It absolutely still goes, but try stepping out of your comfort zone a little
and grabbing a color you wouldn’t normally think of as “fall.” Other things to
look out for in the upcoming collections are grommets, lots of lace, leopard
print (it just won’t go away will it?), and heels to new heights. For a perfect
look every time, just remember to take it easy, and enjoy getting dressed! It's
just fashion, after all.
