Get the Most Out Of Your Car Inspection

All vehicles in Louisiana are required to go through an annual safety inspection process. This inspection is important for ensuring the safety of the vehicle for passengers and other drivers on the road.
Vehicle inspections costs $13 in East Baton Rouge Parish and can be done at almost any car maintenance shop. The mechanic will check to make sure your car or truck conforms to vehicle safety laws. Within the greater Baton Rouge area, your mechanic will also verify that your vehicle operates within local emissions standards.
Today's service centers generally do a very thorough job of checking the areas required for a safety inspection. These include areas like the vehicle’s brakes, mirrors and speedometer. Unfortunately, many of these same service centers rarely check the most basic area: the operation of all lights on your vehicle.
By law, vehicles are required to have working headlights, turn indicators and rear lights. These lights are also some of the most important safety precautions on your vehicle. Driving without working headlights is not only dangerous to you and your family, it puts every other driver on the road at risk.
So before you groan about going in to get your vehicle inspected once a year, remember that your vehicle may very well need something you don't know about. Vehicle inspections can be a great way to find severe vehicle problems you’d never discover otherwise. After all, repairing problems prior to experiencing them is always the best practice.
