Honeybee Quilters

Quilts! Quilts! Quilts! Join the fun and learn new skills at the Zachary Branch Library. Classes take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 24th, August 28, and September 25. For more information call 658-1840.

Attic Treasures & Collectibles
You never know what valuables are hiding in your attic. That dusty, old Archie comic book collection you've held on to for decades could actually be worth something! Local and regional collection specialists will be at the Bluebonnet Regional Branch Library to evaluate items including dolls, stamps, coins, jewelry, pottery, beads, glassware, general antiques, books, and paintings from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday October 11. Genealogy Workshops
Beginning genealogists interested in tracing their family histories should attend A Basic Guide to Genealogy. Learn which resources and strategies might help you get to the next step at the Bluebonnet Regional Branch Library. Meetings will be held throughout the summer. A genealogy staff will discuss how to gather information from home and family, locate sources, get organized and examine vital records. For information on genealogy workshops, call (225) 763-2283.

Public Library Book Sale
The sale is held on the last Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Recycled Reads (the library's book sale facility) located at 13505 Hooper Road, near the intersection of Sullivan Road. Proceeds of the sale go to the Patrons of the Public Library, the Library's friends group.

Pennington Hot Air Balloon Championship
The annual Pennington hot-air balloon championship offers viewers more than 60 beautiful balloons. This year’s championship begins bright and early at 6:30 a.m. on Friday, August 8 at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center on Perkins Road.

Shaw Center : Muriel Anderson’s Acoustic All Star Guitar Night

Carlton Jones Presents: Muriel Anderson will be performing along with Richard Smith and Thom Bresh. Muriel and Richard are former national finger-style champs. All styles of music will be played at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 24 at the Shaw Center in downtown Baton Rouge.

BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo Camp

B REC’s Baton Rouge Zoo Camp, 3601 Thomas Road, continues through August 1. What could be more fun during summer break than hanging out with the animals? Summer is a great time to visit the zoo and learn what being a naturalist is all about. Ages and themes vary by week. Each week is different so children can enjoy multiple weeks at the zoo!
