Zachary Neighbors New Years Resolutions

Lacey Devendorf, Receptionist
Delta Financial Services
“My resolution for the New Year is to move out of my parent’s house and become more independent in 2008. And I want to begin paying my own bills.”
She said she wants to help make a whole lot of new customers for Delta Financial Services in the year ahead.

Dianne Leblanc, Realtor
Owens Realtors
Leblanc said she resolved to sell more homes in the New Year, but her No. 1 goal for 2008 is to spend more time focusing on her career. “What I mean is that I have been so wrapped up in my kids for so long, and I have just been selling real estate for a year. In this next year I plan to focus more on me and my new job. Selling real estate is fun!”
After several years as an employee of Georgia-Pacific, Leblanc opted for a career in real estate. “I like being around different people each day and working outside.”

Desiree Kent, Officer
Zachary Police Department
“I have resolved to eat better, exercise more and live healthier in 2008,” said Kent when we talked with her as she was on guard duty at Neighbors Federal Credit Union. “I also want to begin helping needy people more. My grandparents are in need of my help right now because my mom fell and broke her arm recently. Mom works nights as a hospice nurse, so I will fill in for her by being there for my grandparents while she is at work.”

Elaine Davis, Real Estate Broker
Gold Star Realtors
Davis said her goal for 2008 is to add more real estate agents to her sales force. “We will be looking for more young men and women who want a career helping people; because that is what sales people do you know.”
She said she always likes to work with first time home buyers. “Ever since we started our business back in 1980 my greatest thrill has been helping put a young person or a young couple in a home. It still makes me feel super!”

Towanda Taylor, Teller
Landmark Bank
Taylor has been a teller at Landmark Bank for nine years. “I live in Jackson, but I worked at the Landmark Office in Clinton. Now I just love working in Zachary.”
Eating healthier is Taylor’s No. 1 New Year’s resolution for 2008. “The other thing I want to do is save more money next year.”
Taylor said she plans to save more every year, but it never happens. “I have a new plan this year, though. I am going to open a savings account and hide a little bit of money in it from every pay check. Maybe it will work if I steal from myself and hide the money in a special account that I can never, never touch.”

Gary Blanchard, Owner
Gary Blanchard Jewelers
“I love my business. I love what I do but the result is I spend too much time at work, so my New Year’s resolution is to go fishing more in 2008.”
He said he hopes to get his business running smoother in the next couple of months so this summer he can spend more time at his new camp he is buying at Shell Beach. “And right now the fishing down there is fantastic!”
Nyiece Owens, Owner
Owens Cleaners
Owens has been in the dry cleaning business for 15 years. “In 2008 we are going to emphasize weddings and the tuxedo rental part of the business a lot more. I really enjoy working with the brides and helping them with their accessories and all for that great big day in their lives.”
She helps the young people dress for their high school graduation, and then she dresses them when they get married. “I feel as though I am in every one of those weddings. It has been wonderful watching Zachary grow and meeting all of the new people coming to town.”
