Two More Broncos Will

Play College Basketball

By Melani Johnson

Zachary High basketball stars Ke’Andre Ghoram and Torray Claypole have received athletic scholarships to play college basketball in the fall at Fond du Lac College in Cloquet, MN.

Ghoram began playing organized basketball when he was 12 years old.   He attended Northwestern Middle School before Zachary High where he played for four years. He spent three years under Coach Martin Poche and one year under Coach Kirby Loupe. Gorham dominated the court as a power forward/center.

Claypole started playing on a little league basketball team when he was just eight years old. From the beginning he knew basketball was his destiny. In ninth grade, Claypole played basketball for Lee High School in Baton Rouge. In tenth grade he played for a school in Virginia and in eleventh grade he began playing for Zachary High.

“I'm really looking forward to the upcoming season at Fond du Lac College,” said Ghoram. “I’m excited about meeting new people and having the chance to play on a collegiate level.”

Ghoram has already set out to better his game by creating personal goals for himself. “Some personal goals for me are: (1.) To work hard on and off the court; (2.) Strive to be the best that I can be; (3.) Help my team win games; and (4.) Make my family and me proud of who I am,” Ghoram said.

Like Ghoram, Claypole was also dominant on the court.   He played both forward and center. Claypole is fired up about playing basketball for Fond du Lac College in the fall. “I’m excited to get to know the program and excited about learning the type of game plan the coach has in mind for the team. I’m ready to get in there and contribute to the team’s success” Claypole said.

Claypole hopes to get a decent amount of playing time and has one team goal in mind; “I want our team to take it all the way, that’s my main focus for next season and all seasons to come.”

Claypole will be majoring in business management with the hopes of starting his own auto sports business if the basketball career doesn’t work out. “My ideal situation would be transferring to a bigger college after my two years of junior college ball. After that I think it would be awesome to be able to go overseas somewhere to play basketball” Claypole said.

“I’m really looking forward to the whole experience. I’m especially glad I got the chance to go to Fond du Lac with my friend and teammate, Keandre,” said Claypole.
