Next year I will become more

involved with my church

There are many more ways to become involved with your church than just going to weekly mass. Here are a few ways St. John the Baptist suggests:

1.    Join the Choir - Log on to your local churches website or call the main office for    more information on when choir practices are.

2.   Volunteer- There is a way to volunteer that suits everyone. Most churches devote time and efforts to programs that help others. For example, St. John the Baptist      participates in stewardship programs at Oakwood Village, offering weekly prayer         services to the residents and some volunteers even donate homemade quilts.

3.        Donations - All types of donations are accepted at most churches.   Many churches offer aid to single parents, formally homeless people, locals who have been laid off, along with many others.   They are grateful for donations such as furniture, clothing and food.

4.        Teach Sunday School - Churches welcome suitable volunteers to be teachers or teachers aides. Contact your church’s religious education director for ways to get involved.

5.        Get your children involved - Sign them up for Sunday school or encourage them to become involved in youth ministry.   Involving your children in a religious program early in life allows them to turn it into a lifelong habit.

6.        Become involved in the weekly service - Become an alter server, lecturer, or a Eucharistic minister.
