Residents Able to Obtain New Lake Code
By Bob Hartman
President of the Wedgewood Civic Association
The lake code changed for the two gates at the lake. If you would like the new code, please go to Lakeside Apartments (on Weldwood), push the buzzer at the gate, and tell them you are a resident of Wedgewood and you would like the combination for gate. They will refer you to the rental office and drive in (be prepared to have your driver's license or photo I.D. with Wedgewood address on it or utility bill showing your address). They will have you sign a one-page form and explain the rules to you. They will then give you the access code. The code will be changed every six months or thereabouts from now on. This will keep out people who were causing problems and also hold you responsible if someone you gave a code to is caught breaking rules at the lake.
You might have noticed the "new" crepe myrtles that are in on Weldwood. This is courtesy of the city parish and they look very nice!
The development on Harrell's Ferry at Jones Creek is almost stub-out at Tealbrook and should be closed and a permanent barricade put back up. That should eliminate cut through traffic from the contractor on this development. Thanks Mike Walker for your help in finally getting this street closed!
There have been some problems in the shopping Center on O'Neal Lane as to dumping of trash in the bins and behind the buildings in the shopping center. This area backs up to our home in the subdivision and the owner of the shopping center is installing cameras and signs saying, "no dumping except for shops in the shopping center." Once these signs are up, if you are caught dumping in the shopping center you will be prosecuted!
I told him I did not believe we had any neighbors doing this, but again if you are please stop or face the consequences!
The owner of the shopping center would like to be called if anyone sees anything around the shopping center such as homeless people, parked 18 wheelers, people dumping in the bins behind the shopping center, etc. His name is Scott Bankston, and his (cell) is 310-741-2800 and his office number is 225-769-8412.
