Hickory Ridge Homeowners Association To Participate In 2007 Christmas Parade

By Larry Rosendahl
JCABA President

Members attending the Hickory Ridge Homeowners Association meeting Aug. 7 voted to participate in the Jones Creek Area Business Association Christmas Parade scheduled for Dec. 9. This will be the first year of participation by the HRHA.

All Hickory Ridge homeowners are welcomed to participate. If you have any float ideas to share, or wish to volunteer a vehicle for the event, please contact Larry Rosendahl at 293-3411 Ext 249.

Also discussed at the meeting were parking tickets issued for improper parking of vehicles, traffic calming studies and information available to new homeowners. It was requested that our security officer be available at a future meeting to discuss the criteria for issuing parking citations.

The next HRHA meeting is scheduled for Oct, 2 at Jones Creek Library.

Jones Creek Area Business Association Makes Donation

The Jones Creek Area Business Association has made a donation for a park bench to be placed on the Ochsner Health System Wellness Path. The bench will have a plaque installed to identify JCABA as the donor.

According to Bob Breaux, Fundraising Chairman of Ochsner Baton Rouge Board of Councilors, six benches will be added on the wellness path around the lake “as a place to rest or to sit and soak in the peace and tranquility of nature and of the lake.”

Anyone wanting additional information about this project or wishing to make a donation, may contact Bob Breaux at (225) 751-9845 Ext 262.

Jones Creek Area Business Association Plans Christmas Parade

Plans are already underway for the 15th annual Jones Creek Area Business Association Christmas Parade. This event scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m. will roll down the entire length of Jones Creek.

Last year record crowds attended the parade, which was followed by Woodlawn Baptist Church’s “Christmas Fest,” which again this year is open to the public, especially area children. As in years past, the church weatherman predicts “snow.” There will also be a program featuring a ventriloquist.

This year’s Co-chairmen of the parade are Glenn Conques and Rev. Dan Davis. The Grand Marshall will be Vivian Stevens, who for has been a chairperson for 14 years.

Santa Claus will reportedly be flying in from the North Pole to participate in this event, as will area businesses, schools, scouts and homeowners associations. Last year the parade had a record number of participants.

First Pentecostal Church will sponsor a food drive to benefit the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. Area residents showed their appreciation and support for the event by donating more than 1,000 pounds of canned food for the church’s food drive last year. First Pentecostal will also provide a children’s event in the morning.
