Hickory Ridge News: President Encourages More Neighbors to Get Involved

By Rudy Serio

Hickory Ridge Civic Association President

As we begin the New Year the association would like to wish a healthy and prosperous 2008 to everyone. Hickory Ridge continues to be one of the most desirable and prestigious neighborhoods in the Baton Rouge area. We feel that this is because all of you maintain a very neat and clean premise, but we still have some areas that need improvement. The association is working on this aspect and will continue to address these problematic areas.

Our security patrol has been vigilant in helping eliminate the illegal parking problem. We would like to note that because of some our hard working members, we have been able to get the boulevard median grass cut and instill more frequent uniformed radar units in our area. We can all help Hickory Ridge continue its standing in the community by being considerate of our fellow neighbors. Here are a few suggestions:

•    When walking pets, be sure not to infringe on fellow neighbors.
•    Obey the parking and one-family residence requirements as stated in our charter.
•    Participate more in paying membership dues, and encourage neighbors to do so as well (currently only 50 percent of our members pay dues).
•    More attendance to HRCA meetings on the first Tuesday of even months (February, April, June, August, October, and December). We have more than 500 residents but only 8-10 in attendance at meetings.

A very few are doing the bulk of the work in our subdivision to ensure that we maintain a respectable neighborhood. Remember, this benefits everyone if we have to market our property. Help your neighbors, and more importantly help yourself. Thank you.

HRCA Says Good-Bye and Thanks to Loyal Directors

Director, Hickory Ridge Civic Association

Dolores Clevenger and Terry Cormier have worked tirelessly for Hickory Ridge Association for many years.

Dolores served as Membership Chairman and Security Chairman. She thought nothing of receiving calls from residents in the middle of the night who had problems and needed her help. She personally knew the names of most the families who reside in Hickory Ridge. She has also judged the Christmas decorating contest for several years, including the recent past holiday.

Terry served as Beautification Chairman, making sure that the medium and entrances were in top shape to create a pleasing appearance to residents and visitors alike. Terry helped in many other areas, including the installation of the Christmas bows on the trees in the medium. Both were regular attendees of the association meetings and functions.

Dolores moved to Denham Springs to be closer to family. Upon their recent marriage, Terry and his wife, Claudia, moved to Deer Lake subdivision off O’Neal Lane. We wish Dolores and Terry the very best and convey our gratitude for their many years of service to Hickory Ridge. Both will be greatly missed.
