Audubon Kiwanis Club of Baton Rouge Cooks Up Charity For the Whole Family
By Lowell Tilley
The Audubon Kiwanis Club of Baton Rouge and the Baton Rouge Head Injury Association are teaming up for the second annual Louisiana State Chili Cook-off. All profits will go toward charity.
The winner of this International Chili Society sanctioned cook-off will participate in the World Chili Cook-off for a grand prize worth $25,000.
There will be a party for the cooks on the Friday night before the event so that all contestants are sure to have a good time.
Since this is becoming an annual event that will encourage out of state visitors, the entire community can grow from the cook-off. The day will be filled with food and fun for the entire family, including children activities.
The Cook-off will be held Saturday, March 29 at the LSU 4-H Mini Barn next door to the Sixth Annual Baton Rouge Spring Garden Show with plenty of free parking. It will open to the public at 10:30 a.m., Salsa judging will begin at 12:30 p.m., Chili Verde judging begins at 1:30 p.m., and Red Chili Judging begins at 2:30 p.m.. Awards will be presented at approximately 4:30 p.m.

The Audubon Kiwanis club is part of Kiwanis International. For more than 50 years, Audubon Kiwanis has served the community and provided division, district, and international leadership.
