St. Michael High Warriors

Celebrating 25th Anniversary

It may be hard for some of us to believe, but when the bell rang on Friday, August 7, 2009, the once Bishop Sullivan and now St. Michael the Archangel Warriors began celebrating their school’s 25 years of service to area students and their parents.

“This is a very special time at St. Michael High School when we are acknowledging and celebrating our heritage,” said Principal Myra T. Patureau.   “We look forward to much continued success.”

St. Michael has been teaching for 25 years, but the classrooms haven't remained the same; with up-to-date technology St. Michael provides the environment for its students to excel.

The celebration began officially on October 1st with a very special Founders Day Mass in the gym at St. Michael offered by Bishop Robert Muensch.

St. Michael’s Development Director Lee Reeves said Catholicism is included in the school’s foundation.   “This spiritual celebration is the perfect way to honor and involve those dignitaries, donors, administrators, etc. who have made an impact on St. Michael High School and its growth and success.”

The 25th Anniversary theme was also featured during St. Michael’s homecoming festivities with affinity reunions for cheerleaders, the dance team, the band, flag girls and past football players.   On Monday, November 2nd the Annual St. Michael’s Golf Tournament will offer special $25 opportunities, discounts and raffles.

Reeves said St. Michael’s is reflecting back on how both the bricks and mortar of the school have changed and how the students have changed over time as they celebrate the benefits of a Catholic education – the one constant in the school’s history.   “Ideals such as spiritual, academic and personal development have remained at the forefront of the mission and goals of St. Michael for each and every one of the 25 years,” she said.

During the second quarter of the school year celebrations will center on Catholic Schools Week.  The Silver Anniversary will be the theme of this year’s Annual Auction Social and a special 25-Year Silver Celebration Dinner.

At the dinner the St. Michael Sword Award Winners and Distinguished Alumni will be honored said Patureau.   “We intend to use this inaugural event during this very special year as a launch to what we hope will be a very long tradition of honoring alumni and other distinguished honorees annually.”

Anyone wishing to be included in any of the 25th Anniversary events, or groups interested in arranging a reunion of a sports team, organization or affinity group, is encouraged to call Development Director Reeves at 755-3618.
