Two KCA Members Volunteer As Selective Service Board Members

Two residents of Kenilworth who are members of the Kenilworth Civic Association are presently serving as members of the District Appeal Board for the Selective Service System. This five-member board covers an area from LaPlace to Lake Charles and as far north as Alexandria and the southwest counties of the state of Mississippi.

They recently completed their annual Continuation Training. They also serve as the chairman and vice-chairman of the board. We thank Chairman Leslie Tassin and Vice-Chairman Jackie Mallet for volunteering to serve our country by participating on this important board to protect our nation’s security.

Kenilworth,Walden Neighborhood Watch Growing

Fred Raiford of the EBR Sheriff ’s Office met with Kenilworth and Walden residents at the Kenilworth Clubhouse recently. The subject was security and the recent rash of auto and home break-ins throughout the area.

KCA Security Chairman Dick Juneau has worked with Raiford to develop a large Neighborhood Watch Organization. At the meeting residents were urged to be more vigilant because “today’s society has changed dramatically,” according to Raiford. “Know your neighbors, keep lights on at night, check with each other frequently, know about each other, and become active.” He said whenever he passes a home with a couple of days’ newspapers at the end of the driveway he knows that is an event waiting to happen.
