I resolve to become more involved in my church

There are so many more ways to become involved in your church than just going to weekly services. Here are a few ways Greenwell Springs Baptist Church suggests:

  1. Inquire about a new member class - For example, Greenwell Springs Baptist offers a class every 10 or 12 weeks that teaches the new member or guest how to get plugged in with the church.   It is an informational meeting where the new member or guest can find a niche in the church.   It is held every 10-12 weeks.
  2. Join the Choir - If you have an interest in singing, joining the choir is a great way to get involved.   Contact the choir leader for more information.   Greenwell Springs Baptist Church holds an open house at choir rehearsals for interested people with no commitment
  3. Volunteer - There is a way to volunteer that suits every age group. Most churches devote time and effort to programs that help others.
  4. Teach Sunday School - Churches welcome suitable volunteers to be teachers or teacher’s aides.   The first step is to seek out the education minister, who will ensure that the volunteer is in agreement with the church’s positional beliefs.   The church will then look for an area of study that needs a teacher or an aide.
  5. Get your children involved - Sign them up for Sunday school or encourage them to become involved in student ministry.   The youth involved in the student ministry are given the opportunity to hold leadership roles among their peers.   For example, they can become a student pastor or share prayers or announcements.    Involving your children in a religious program early in life allows them to turn it into a lifelong habit.
  6. Become involved in the weekly service - become an alter server, lecturer, or a Eucharistic minister.
