Cookin’ For Our Kids
Fundraiser For Central Community
Schools to Be Held at End of April
After many months of planning, the Cookin’ For Our Kids
event is just around the corner. It will be held on April 27th from
5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and April 28th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the
Central Fair Grounds on the corner of Hooper and Sullivan Roads.
The fundraiser’s goal is to raise $309,000 for the Central
Community School District by selling food plates and raffle tickets and holding
a silent auction. The committee is also taking pre-orders for the Cookin’ For
Our Kids Cookbook containing recipes submitted from the community with all
proceeds going toward the schools. There will also be a crawfish boil, live
entertainment and a cook-off with jambalaya, couchon-de-lait, chili, fried
turkey and brisket.
Last year the Central community held the Cookin’ For Our
Neighbors event in which they raised $191,000 for the Chalmette school system
after Hurricane Katrina.
To make a donation to the Central Community School District,
make checks payable to Central High School Alumni Association and mail to
Cookin’ For Our Kids, P.O. Box 15342, Baton Rouge, LA 70895.
