By Robert W. Leteff
Oh what abused
treasures
Yes you as well
as myself
We heed so
little their existence
These dusty
gems upon a shelf
A story of
human existence,
From mans first
muddled strife
To centuries of
the infinite future
And on to
eternal life
They are
treasure houses of knowledge
Built on a
solid foundation of time
A blueprint of
our future
A reference for
all mankind
A history of
where man has been
A prophecy of
things to come
A written epic
of life
Mankind’s
continuing tabulated sum
