Recently David Vitter’s tour bus made a stop in Central to shake hands with constituents. A group of Central residents were there to meet Sen. Vitter’s team. From left are Mayor Mac Watts, Sen. Vitter representative Amanda Swanner, Claude Derbes, Mike Faulk, Russell Starns, Sen. Vitter representative Brenda Clark and Chamber of Commerce executive director Bob Breaux. Mr. Breaux discussed a number of issues important to the Central community. Some of these points were:
1) Creating a City of Central zip code that would give the City of Central or Central city name in the address. This is important as a sales tax issue and a way to identify Central as an individual community.
2) Issues pertaining to federal dollars for the extension of Hooper Road across the Amite River to connect with Livingston and St Helena Parishes.
3) Whether stimulus money will go toward the Central School System for build or repairing buildings.
