Annual CASA Fundraiser to be Held Oct. 21
The 13th Casas for CASA is here! On Sunday, Oct. 21, CASA will host their annual CASA Fiesta fundraiser at the Mall of Louisiana from 7:30 – 10 p.m. The event is $50 per person and includes a Mexican buffet from Serrano’s Salsa Company, live music by the Carbon Copy Band, and a silent auction that will run from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 that includes hundreds of items such as gifts and vacation packages.
Every year the event holds a raffle to take home a playhouse. This year local builder Buquet and LeBlanc General Contractors will construct and donate a child-size playhouse designed by local architect Tipton Associates, APAC. The playhouse will be on display for three weeks from Sept. 29 – Oct. 21 at the Mall of Louisiana, and the drawing will take place on Oct. 21. Raffle tickets to win the house will be on sale for $5 at the mall or the CASA office.
The fundraiser aims to raise money to continue to support Capital Area CASA, an organization that acts as a voice for abused and neglected children. In 1995, the first Casas for CASA raised $3,600 through the playhouse raffle. In 2006, Casas for CASA generated more than $80,000 to support the efforts of volunteer advocates in East Baton Rouge Parish.
