Mr. Landry, who was a local developer, owned the Bellingrath Water Company because he was developing Bellingrath Subdivision. He wanted to sell the water company, but he wanted my dad to tear down a big old barn that was an eyesore on his property. Mr. Landry told dad he would sell him the water company if he would tear down the barn. Daddy was not interested in that deal, so Mr. Hubbs bought the water company, and as soon as the papers were signed he sold it to my father for $1 more than he paid for it.

When he started he had only seven customers for Bellingrath Water. Now we have 860 customers.
