Bennett Brothers Qualify for U.S. Kids Golf World Championship
Brady and Andrew Bennett of Zachary recently qualified to play in the U.S. Kids Golf World Championship to be held in Pinehurst, N.C., Aug. 2-4. Golfers from more than 30 countries around the world attempted to qualify for this prestigious tournament, with approximately 100 of the top golfers in each age group making the cut.
Qualifying tournaments for Louisiana was held at University Club in Baton Rouge on June 18. Andrew played in the six and under age group 1,100 yards) and qualified with a one over par round of 37, highlighted by an eagle on the ninth and final hole to help him qualify.
Older brother Brady competed in the eight-year-old group (1,900 yards) and fired a nine-hole score of 42 to solidify his spot in the championship. Brady’s round included a birdie on the difficult par 4 seventh hole.
Brady will be a third grade student at Zachary Elementary this year, and Andrew will join him there as a second grader. The Bennetts are members of Copper Mill Golf Club in Zachary.
U.S. Kids Golf conducts local tours and world championship qualifiers around the world. Their focus is a family and kid friendly environment, where parents are encouraged to caddie and the kids play from age-appropriate yardages.
